Perched at the edge of a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this magical Modernist home was designed for Rob and Alice Beagles by Pierre Koenig in 1963, and has been occupied by the Beagles family ever since. It was a few years after his iconic and influential Case Study Houses, and he had a burgeoning career designing these utterly simple and beautifully finished houses while teaching architecture at USC. It’s deceptively modest from the street.
This is a “Holy Grail” property– one designed by a hugely influential architect, with views overlooking the Pacific Ocean all the way to Palos Verdes, and in impeccable, well-maintained original condition, plus with deeded access to a semi-private path leading to the ocean beach below. The principal rooms along with four bedrooms and three baths are arranged around an atrium-like stairwell anchored by an immense steel fireplace on the lower level.
