The Sweetest Cottage In Bronson Canyon, $3M

L.A. in the 1920s was a boom town. What had once been untouched canyons and miles of orange droves were transformed by oil rigs, film studios and development schemes. Home design was driven as much by fantasy as the film industry, and the skilled designers and craftspeople who created movie sets also worked on homes, building in the traditional styles craved by newcomers and the upwardly mobile in what was barely more than desert.

And so we have this charming c1927 Tudor Style cottage—set behind a high wall—in the Bronson Canyon neighborhood, recently re-scripted by designers Joelle Kutner and Jesse Rudolph of Ome Dezin. Preserving the best of the past, they’ve infused new life into the spacious, 4-bed, 4-bath property, now ready for its next century.

There are vaulted, timbered spaces throughout; the designers preserved the handmade wrought iron strapwork and bracing. The kitchen is completely new, composed from smaller spaces, but looking timeless, and open to the rear courtyard.
